Jade Cerisa Lorraine Goody Biography

Jade Cerisa Lorraine Goody (5 June 1981 – 22 March 2009) was an English media personality. She came into the public spotlight while appearing on the third series of the Channel 4 reality TV show Big Brother in 2002, an appearance which led to her own television programmes and the launch of her own products after her eviction.

In January 2007, she was a housemate in Celebrity Big Brother. During the show she was accused of racist bullying against Indian actress Shilpa Shetty. Following her eviction from the show, she admitted her actions had been wrong and she subsequently made many public apologies.

In August 2008, she appeared on the Indian version of Big Brother, Bigg Boss, but withdrew early from the show and returned to the UK after being told she had cervical cancer. In February 2009, after the cancer metastasised, she was told that it was terminal. She married Jack Tweed on 22 February 2009 and died, one month later, in the early hours of 22 March 2009.

Career
2002: Big Brother 3
When she appeared on Big Brother 3 Goody became a target of ridicule in the British tabloid press for displaying a severe lack of general knowledge for a British native. Goody thought that the English city of Cambridge was in London. On being told that Cambridge is in East Anglia, she assumed that to be abroad, and referred to it as "East Angular". She also was criticised by the tabloid press during her time in the Big Brother house for an evening during which she cavorted drunk and naked and also was criticised for "backstabbing". She avoided eviction long enough to outlast the media's apparent resentment and become popular. She also provided what was believed to be the first instance of sexual contact in Big Brother UK history, with a drunken grope with fellow housemate PJ, though it is unclear what sexual acts, if any, took place.

2002–2006: Initial fame
Goody fronted her own reality TV shows and appeared regularly in celebrity, trivia, and gossip-oriented women's magazines such as heat and OK!. Goody signed up for the 2006 London Marathon. She did not finish the course, collapsing after 34 km (21 miles) of the 42.195 km (26.2 miles), and was taken to the Royal London Hospital to recover overnight. Before the race, Goody described her preparations to TV chef, Gordon Ramsay. "I've been eating curry, Chinese and drinking." Afterwards, she explained:

"I don't really understand miles. I didn't actually know how far it was going to be. ... I didn’t want to let everyone down."

Goody raised over £550 for her chosen charity, the NSPCC.

On 2 May 2006, Goody published her autobiography titled Jade: My Autobiography and in June she launched her own fragrance, Shh ... Jade Goody. It was launched by Superdrug in the summer of 2005 and became the store's third best selling fragrance behind Kylie Minogue's and Victoria Beckham's. However, due to allegations of racism, The Perfume Shop decided to remove the fragrance from its shelves. The Perfume Shop has since resumed selling Shh... and it was in their top five best online sellers in the run-up to Christmas 2007. Until November 2006 Goody also contributed a weekly column to Now magazine.

2007: Celebrity Big Brother 5
Just before entering the house Goody ranked number 25 in a poll by heat for the most influential person in the world. Her lifetime earnings were cited to be between £2 million and £8 million by this point. On 5 January 2007 Goody, her mother Jackiey Budden, and her boyfriend Jack Tweed entered the Big Brother House for Celebrity Big Brother 2007. Upon entering the Big Brother House, Goody was informed that she and her family (later joined by Jermaine Jackson, Shilpa Shetty and Ken Russell) would stay in the main house in luxury, while the 8 other remaining celebrities would become their servants and live in the house next door. Goody was not informed that she and her new family faced an eviction in which the public voted for their favourite to keep in the house. Her mother, Jackiey, was the first to be evicted, on 10 January 2007.

Goody was accused of making derogatory and racist comments both about and to her fellow housemate Shilpa Shetty, which led to the Celebrity Big Brother racism controversy. The fact that she was supporting anti-bullying charity Act Against Bullying during these events compounded her problems. A number of complaints were received by the British broadcasting regulator Ofcom about the behaviour of Jo O'Meara, Danielle Lloyd and Goody towards Shetty. By 20 January, Ofcom received a record of more than 44,500 complaints from members of the public, while Channel 4 received an additional 3,000 complaints.

Among Goody's comments were: "I've seen how she goes in and out of people's arseholes", as well as suggesting Shetty "makes skin crawl". She also referred to Shetty as 'Shilpa Fuckawalla' and 'Shilpa Poppadom'. Goody said afterwards: "She is Indian, thinking of an Indian name and only thing I could think of was Indian food. Wasn't racial at all. It was not to offend any Indian out there." Cleo Rocos to Shetty: "I don't think there's anything racist in it." Shetty: "It is, I'm telling you." However Shetty later changed her opinion stating "I don't feel there was any racial discrimination happening from Jade's end... I think that there are a lot of insecurities from her end but it's definitely not racial," Shetty said in the show's diary room. The incident created an international outcry, gaining heavy coverage in the Indian media. Gordon Brown, then British Chancellor of the Exchequer, who was visiting India at the time, condemned the programme on the grounds that he is against anything which might damage the perception that Britain is a country of tolerance. In a statement on 17 January Channel 4 defended the programme against charges "of overt racism or racial abuse". Goody was evicted from the Big Brother house on 19 January 2007 receiving 82% of the vote when up against Shetty.

On 19 January, she was evicted from the Big Brother house. Channel 4 banned crowds gathering outside the house to greet Goody and cancelled a press conference with her. In her interview with Davina McCall immediately afterwards, she stated that she was "disgusted with self" after watching a video of the alleged bullying. Her much publicised return to the Big Brother house was branded "a terrible decision" by publicist Max Clifford, who also said "it looks like she has ruined a very lucrative career".

Ultimately Channel 4 received a rebuke from Ofcom over its handling of the Celebrity Big Brother race row that resulted in more than 54,000 complaints. It emerged that there were various other, unbroadcast incidents of alleged racism. They included a late night "limerick game" between O'Meara, Lloyd, Goody and her boyfriend Jack Tweed in which the use of the word "Paki" was allegedly implied but not said. In the others, Goody speculated on whether Lloyd used "the p-word" and Goody referred to the Bollywood actress as "Shilpa Pashwa whoever you fucking are".

2007–2009: Return to the public eye
Goody lent her face and name to a cookbook, Christmas Dinner with Jade Goody, which specialised in traditional Christmas food. The book was released with a DVD featuring Goody and her two sons.

In late 2007 and early 2008, several public polls put Goody in an unfavourable light. In early 2008 she purchased a brand new Bentley Continental GTC sports car worth £130,000.

In March 2008, the Daily Mail reported Goody had become involved in "vicious fight with a female partygoer at an Essex nightclub before turning her rage onto a security guard".

Goody stated in April 2008 that she would be releasing her second perfume range, Controversial.

In 2008, Goody appeared in the Indian version of Big Brother, Bigg Boss. She was rumoured to have been offered £100,000 to take part. Goody entered the house on 17 August and in the opening VT of herself she claimed the incident with Shetty was "in the past" and that she was "not proud of it". Two days into the show, Goody was told she had cervical cancer and she subsequently withdrew, immediately flying home to England. Scenes of Goody being told of her diagnosis and her emotional reaction were not broadcast in India.

In October 2008, she released a new autobiography, Jade: Catch A Falling Star. It is published by John Blake Publishing and covers her time in Celebrity Big Brother 2007. In Christmas 2008, she played the role of the Wicked Queen in a pantomime version of Snow White at the Theatre Royal, Lincoln, and was praised for her strength and determination in doing so. Goody had to withdraw from the production in January for health reasons. A reality television documentary, Living With Jade Goody was shown in September as a one off special, as part of the Living With . . . series on Living TV. A one off film "Jade's cancer battle" was aired on 11 December. There were plans for further shows if Goody had felt able to take part.

Also in October 2008, Goody opened her second beauty salon named "Homme Fatel", catering exclusively for men.

Personal life
Prior to Goody's entry into the Big Brother house, she was a dental nurse. Goody lived with her sons in Upshire, a village in Essex. Her father, Andrew Robert Goody (February 1963 - August 2005), who was of mixed race, was a drug addict and habitual criminal, who served prison sentences including a four-year term for robbery. He and Goody's mother, Jackiey Budden (born April 1958), split up when Goody was two, and he became estranged from Goody, whilst Goody's mother brought her up in Bermondsey. Goody's father died of a drug overdose in Bournemouth, aged 42. Goody had a relationship with TV presenter and fellow reality television regular Jeff Brazier, the father of her two sons, both of whom were born in Harlow, Essex: Bobby Jack Brazier, born in 2003, and Freddie Brazier, the following year. In 2005, Goody had a six month relationship with footballer Ryan Amoo.

She was subsequently in a relationship with Jack Tweed (born 1987, Waltham Forest, Greater London), who appeared alongside her on Celebrity Big Brother. In June 2007, Goody suffered a miscarriage, during the relationship. Following numerous allegations of Tweed being unfaithful the pair broke up. Goody confirmed she was dating again, and said of Tweed: "Some days, I felt more like his mum than his lover...I’ll never date a toy boy again.". However, they resumed their relationship. Tweed lived with Goody and her children in Buckhurst Hill, Essex, until he was imprisoned. He, along with another man, were convicted of assault occasioning actual bodily harm for attacking a 16-year-old boy in December 2006. He served four months of an eighteen-month sentence before being released, on 27 January 2009, on electronic monitoring and subject to a strict curfew. On 15 February 2009, Goody exchanged rings with Tweed in a private informal ceremony on the banks of the River Thames. Tweed and Goody married on Sunday 22 February at Down Hall country house near Hatfield Heath, Essex. The couple signed an exclusive £700,000 deal with OK! magazine for photographs of the ceremony. Tweed was granted an exemption to his curfew for the night of 22/23 February. On 3 March 2009, Tweed was convicted of common assault for attacking a taxi driver in May 2008. He is on bail until he is sentenced at Harlow Magistrates Court, which was due to take place on 26 March 2009, but has been rescheduled for 16 April 2009, to allow him to attend Goody's funeral.

Cancer
Goody had a number of health scares throughout the 2000s. In 2002, shortly before her Big Brother 3 appearance, she had a cervical smear test which revealed abnormal cells, a possible indicator of cancer. She was later tested for ovarian cancer in 2004 and bowel cancer in 2006, but was given the all-clear on each occasion. She underwent hospital tests in early August 2008 after her fourth cancer scare. She had already collapsed four times. The test results confirmed she had cervical cancer; she was told of this on 19 August 2008 while in the Indian version of Big Brother, called Bigg Boss. Her spokesperson said, "It looks like her cancer is at an early stage but we will have to wait until she gets back to Britain and sees a specialist and has more tests".

On 1 September 2008 it was reported that Goody's cancer was "advanced and life-threatening" and that she would be having an operation followed by chemotherapy. Doctors warned that her survival chance could be as low as 65%. Further tests, and a radical hysterectomy, "went well" according to her publicist, and Goody began a course of chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

In an interview with Irish broadcasting company RTÉ she admitted having started planning her funeral. Furthermore, Goody told the broadcaster that she was losing all her hair and had decided not to explain her illness to her children.

On 4 February 2009 Max Clifford, Goody's publicist, confirmed that Goody's cancer had spread to her liver, bowel and groin. Therefore, the previous estimate of a 40% chance of survival was withdrawn and she underwent treatment to prolong her life. On 7 February, Clifford reported that Goody had undergone emergency surgery in London to remove a tumour on her bowel.

On 14 February, Clifford confirmed media reports that doctors at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London had declared her cancer as terminal and that she could be dead within weeks, and at the most was unlikely to survive more than a few more months. He stated "She was informed yesterday that tragically, she's terminally ill. She was obviously devastated."Goody then began drawing up a will and making plans for the future care of her two sons.

On 5 March 2009, Goody requested to be christened from her bed at the Royal Marsden Hospital; on 7 March she and her sons were christened. Clifford confirmed that this would be Goody's last public appearance, and that she had already said her goodbyes to her family. He stated, "We're hoping and praying that Jade pulls through, but the fact of the matter is that she now only has a short time to live." He also confirmed that doctors had said the next 24 hours were crucial to assessing how long it will be before she dies, but that she had only a very short time left regardless. Her husband Jack Tweed was allowed to extend his curfew so he could spend a final night with his wife before she said her final goodbyes to her family.

When news broke that Goody's cancer was terminal, medical authorities in the UK began reporting a surge in requests from women, particularly younger women, for screening for cervical cancer. This reversed a trend which had seen demand for screening decline overall in the past decade, with the highest decline being among women aged 25-29.

As a result of the publicity surrounding Goody's illness, on 13 March 2009 government health ministers agreed to review the NHS's policy of not offering screening for cervical cancer until the age of 25 in England (it is 20 in the rest of the UK). Goody issued a press release the same day, saying that she was "immensely proud" that she had helped prompt the review.

Death
Goody died in her sleep in the early hours of 22 March 2009. The reported exact time of her death varies by news source. Her mother Jackiey Budden, husband Jack Tweed, and family friend Kevin Adams were by Goody's bedside when she died. Her funeral service is due to take place at noon on 4 April 2009 at St John's church, Buckhurst Hill, Essex. Later that day she will be buried near her home in Epping Forest on April 4, 2009.

Bridget Moynahan to Gisele Bundchen

Bridget Moynahan is reportedly furious with Gisele Bundchen after the supermodel boasted about her new role as stepmother to the actress' son.

The Brazilian beauty married Tom Brady in February. They have been together since he split from longtime ex-girlfriend Moynahan back in 2006.

Moynahan announced that she was pregnant with Tom's child, John Edward Thomas Moynahan, now 17 months, just weeks after the two split.

Bundchen recently gushed in Vanity Fair that she has a great relationship with the boy, even claiming she felt as if he was "100 percent" her child.

Gisele probably only meant that in the sense that she is wholly committed to her role as a stepmother to John, but the model's comments were not received favorably by Moynahan, according to a report in the New York Post.
A pal of Bridget Moynahan's said "If Gisele loved Bridget's child like he was '100 percent her own,' then she would not talk about him in the press."

"Don't you think Jack will grow up and read her comments and find them disrespectful to him and his mother? If Tom Brady is such a great father as everyone likes to say, then you would think that he'd respect the privacy of his young child and would ask his wife not to use his son as a publicity prop and a subject of public discussion?"

"Is she really so desperate for attention that she can't find anything more productive to talk about other than Bridget's child?"

Jennifer Love Hewitt Biography

Jennifer Love Hewitt (born February 21, 1979) is an American actress and singer-songwriter. Hewitt began her acting career as a child by appearing in television commercials and the Disney Channel series Kids Incorporated. She rose to fame in teenage popular culture via her roles in the Fox series Party of Five, as Sarah Reeves, and the films I Know What You Did Last Summer and its sequel, as Julie James.

As a singer, Hewitt has been signed by Atlantic Records and Jive Records. She is primarily known for her recordings in the pop genre and has a contralto vocal range. To date, her most successful single is the 2002 release "BareNaked", and the album of the same title landed at #37 on the Billboard 200. In addition, she has contributed music to the promotion or soundtracks of acting projects.

Hewitt's physical appearance has been the subject of much media attention throughout her career. Named the sexiest woman in the world in 1999[4] and the sexiest woman on television in 2008, she has been repeatedly honored by publications such as Maxim, TV Guide, FHM, and numerous readers of these periodicals. In 2007, paparazzi photos of Hewitt on a beach led to a much-publicized matter in which she defended her weight, and was supported by other celebrities. These incidents received coverage from People magazine.

In addition to acting, Hewitt has also served as a producer on certain film or television projects. She can be seen on the CBS television program Ghost Whisperer as Melinda Gordon, a young woman who can communicate with ghosts.

Early life and career
Hewitt was born in Waco, Texas, the daughter of Patricia Mae (née Shipp), a speech-language pathologist, and Herbert Daniel Hewitt, a medical technician. Hewitt grew up in Nolanville, Texas; after the divorce of her parents, Hewitt and her older brother, Todd Hewitt, were brought up by her mother. Her first name was given to her by her brother, after a girl he was fond of as a youngster, while her middle name, "Love", was given to her by her mother after her best friend in college.

As a young girl, Hewitt was attracted to music, which led to her first encounters with the entertainment industry. At the age of three, she sang "The Greatest Love of All" at a livestock show. Just a year after that, at a restaurant-dance hall, she entertained an audience with her version of "Help Me Make It Through the Night". By the time she was five, Hewitt already had tap dancing and ballet in her portfolio. At nine, she became a member of the Texas Show Team (which also toured in the Soviet Union). At the age of ten, at the suggestion of talent scouts and winning the title of Texas Our Little Miss Talent Winner, she moved to Los Angeles, California, with her mother to pursue a career in both acting and singing. In Los Angeles, Hewitt attended Lincoln High School where her classmates included Jonathan Neville, who later became a talent scout and recommended Hewitt for her role in Party of Five. She was also a girl scout.

Film career
After moving to Los Angeles, Hewitt appeared in more than twenty television commercials. Her first break came as a child actor on the Disney Channel variety show Kids Incorporated (1989–1991), where she was credited as just Love Hewitt. During this time she danced in and sang all the songs for a live action video called Dance! Workout With Barbie released by Buena Vista.

In 1993, she played Pierce Brosnan's daughter in a pilot for NBC called Running Wilde, which featured Brosnan as a reporter for Auto World magazine whose stories cover his own wild auto adventures. However, the series wasn't picked up and the pilot never aired. Hewitt later had roles in several short-lived television series, such as Fox's Shaky Ground (1992–1993), ABC's The Byrds of Paradise (1994), and McKenna (1994–1995), and finally became a young star after landing the role of Sarah Reeves on the popular Fox Television show Party of Five (1995–1999). She assumed the role of Sarah after joining that show during its second season and continued it on the short-lived Party of Five spin-off, Time of Your Life (1999), which she also co-produced. The show was cancelled after only half a season.

Hewitt made her film debut in the independent film Munchie (1992). She became a film star after a lead role in the horror film I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997), which enjoyed great box-office success (125,000,000 U.S. dollars worldwide). The film made Hewitt and her co-stars Freddie Prinze Jr., Ryan Phillippe, and Sarah Michelle Gellar some of the most popular young stars in the USA. She also appeared in the sequel I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (1998), which, though ultimately not as successful as the first film, took in more money on its opening weekend. Other notable film roles have included the high-school comedy Can't Hardly Wait (1998) and a starring role with Sigourney Weaver in the romantic comedy Heartbreakers (2001).

In 2000, Hewitt appeared in The Audrey Hepburn Story. That same year, she was the "most popular actress on television" due to her Q-rating (a measurement of a celebrity's popularity) of thirty-seven. For that reason, Nokia chose her to become its spokesperson, because of her "fresh image", and her being "a symbol of youthfulness and wholesomeness".

In 2001, she appeared in the music video for the Enrique Iglesias song, "Hero", as the singer's love interest.

Hewitt wrote "I'm Gonna Love You" for the movie The Hunchback of Notre Dame II because, although she was a well-known singer at the time, her character Madellaine was the only character who didn't sing in the movie. The song won an award for Best Song on DVD Awards.

Since September 2005, Hewitt has starred in the television series Ghost Whisperer. In Australia, Ghost Whisperer has been popular since its introduction; in the United States, the show averages 9–11 million viewers for each new episode. Hewitt has also auditioned for many roles. She was asked to play Juliet in Romeo + Juliet, but the director felt she wasn't modern looking. The role went to Claire Danes. She also had to give up the role of Darlene in Brokedown Palace because of scheduling conflicts.

Music career
In 1991, Meldac funded the recording of Hewitt's first album Love Songs, when she was just 12. The album was only released in Japan in 1992 where Hewitt became a pop star. Her explanation for her success in Japan is that the Japanese "love perky music. The poppier the music, the better."

After she joined the cast of Party of Five in 1995, she signed to Atlantic Records, who rushed her first single and second album, Let's Go Bang, out in October.

Juggling her music career with her acting career, she recorded her follow-up in 1996. The first single, "No Ordinary Love", failed to chart and led to the album doing the same. Atlantic dropped Hewitt, who didn't return to the music scene for 3 years.

In 1999, she recorded the single "How Do I Deal" for the I Still Know What You Did Last Summer soundtrack. The song became Hewitt's first charting single by climbing to #59 on the Hot 100 and #36 on the Top 40 Mainstream. It also reached #8 in Australia.

In 2002, Hewitt signed to Jive Records and recorded her fourth album with singer/songwriter/producer Meredith Brooks. The first single, "BareNaked", became her biggest radio hit to date when it peaked at #24 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart, #31 on the Adult Top 40 and #25 on the Top 40 Mainstream. It also climbed to #6 in Australia and #33 in the Netherlands. The moderate success of the single propelled her album of the same name to peak at #37 on the Billboard 200 and #31 in Australia. However, it only remained on the chart for 3 weeks. The second single, "Can I Go Now", failed to chart in the US, while managing to peak at #8 in the Netherlands and #12 in Australia.

Since 2003, Hewitt hasn't actively done anything in the music industry, but a compilation called Cool with You: The Platinum Collection was released in Asia.

In addition to starring in the 2004 film If Only, Hewitt also co-wrote and performed two songs for its soundtrack: "Love Will Show You Everything" and "Take My Heart Back".

She also appeared in the 2004 made-for-television musical A Christmas Carol, performing the singing role of Ebenezer Scrooge's fiance Emily.

Personal life
Hewitt is an honorary godparent of the Audrey Hepburn Children's Fund.
She has dated singer-guitarist John Mayer, talk show host Carson Daly, actor/model Kip Pardue, writer Chris Benson, singer-songwriter Rich Cronin, actor and singer Joey Lawrence, professional kayaker Brad Ludden, actor Will Friedle, and singer Enrique Iglesias.

Hewitt was engaged to Scottish actor Ross McCall, who she met when he made an appearance on Ghost Whisperer. After a year of dating, they became engaged In November 2007, while vacationing in Hawaii. Paparazzi photographs secretly taken of Hewitt on vacation in a bikini led to harsh criticism of her body by bloggers. Hewitt responded: "I've sat by in silence for a long time now about the way women's bodies are constantly scrutinized.... What I should be doing is celebrating some of the best days of my life and my engagement to the man of my dreams, instead of having to deal with photographers taking invasive pictures from bad angles."

On January 5, 2009, People magazine reported that Hewitt and McCall have called off their engagement.

On Ryan Seacrest's radio show (March 13, 2009) Jamie Kennedy confirmed that he and Hewitt were dating and he was "...madly in love with her.

Stalking
In 2002, conspiracy theorist and former social worker Diana Napolis was arrested for stalking and uttering death threats against Hewitt after "verbally confronting" the actress at the 2002 Grammy Awards, and the subsequent day attempted to pose as a friend to enter the premiere of The Tuxedo. Napolis also admitted to becoming involved in a shoving match with Hewitt's mother while confronting the actress. Napolis accused Hewitt, along with director Steven Spielberg, of controlling her thoughts through "cybertronic" technology and being part of a Satanic conspiracy against her. Napolis was charged with six felonies related to the incidents pleading guilty after a year of involuntary commitment and released on bail with a condition that she was barred from contact with both Spielberg and Hewitt.

Clay Aiken, Tyra Banks Get GLAAD at Media Awards

The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation honored some of show biz's best and brightest on Saturday night, as the 20th Annual GLAAD Media Awards took place at the Marriott Marquis in New York. The awards honor media companies and individuals for fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities.

America's Next Top Model/Tyra Banks Show host Tyra Banks was bestowed with the Excellence in Media Award, which was presented to her by American Idol vet Clay Aiken.

Grey's Anatomy star T.R. Knight was also on hand, to present financial guru Suze Orman with the Vito Russo Award, while talk-show legend Phil Dohanue was granted the Special Recognition Award.

Also in attendance: Sex and the City actor Chris Noth and several cast members of the hit sitcom Ugly Betty, including Vanessa Williams, Michael Urie and Ana Ortiz, who proudly flaunted her baby bump on the red carpet. (Ortiz is expecting a daughter with husband Noah Lebenzon in July.)

Ugly Betty is up for Outstanding Comedy Series in another awards ceremony that GLAAD has planned for April 18 in Los Angeles. Other nominees for that ceremony include the biopic Milk, Woody Allen's Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Desperate Housewives, Brothers & Sisters and Greek.

Still Going Strong

Nicole Richie and Joel Madden (with a new “reverse skunk” dye job) are still going strong despite false rumors floating around the Internets.

Nicole, 25, has been on tour with boyfriend Joel Madden, 28, in Asia.

The loved-up couple were spotted together at an airport in Asia, most likely Japan when Good Charlotte was on tour there last week.

Kristen Jaymes Stewart Biography

Kristen Jaymes Stewart (born April 9, 1990) is an American film and television actress. She is known for roles in the films Panic Room, Zathura, In the Land of Women, Into the Wild, The Messengers, and Twilight.

Personal life
Stewart was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, where she currently lives with her family. Her father, John Stewart, is a stage manager and television producer who has worked for Fox. Her mother, Jules Mann-Stewart, is a scriptwriter originally from Maroochydore, Queensland, Australia. She attended school until the seventh grade, and then continued her education by correspondence. She has an older brother, Cameron Stewart, and is a guitar player. In a 2008 interview with Vanity Fair, Kristen confirmed she is dating actor Michael Angarano. She is also very close friends with her Twilight co-stars Robert Pattinson and Nikki Reed. Stewart has expressed a desire to live and work in Australia, saying, "I want to go to Sydney University in Australia. My mom's from there." Apart from acting, she is also interested in attending college in the near future, saying, "I want to go to college for literature. I want to be a writer. I mean, I love what I do, but it's not all I want to do—be a professional liar for the rest of my life."

Career
Stewart's acting career began at the age of eight, after an agent saw her perform in her elementary school's Christmas show. Stewart's first role was a short, nonspeaking part in the Disney Channel TV production The Thirteenth Year. She subsequently appeared in the independent film The Safety of Objects, in which she played the tomboy daughter of a troubled single mother (Patricia Clarkson). Stewart had a major role in the Hollywood film Panic Room, playing the sullen, diabetic daughter of a divorced mother (Jodie Foster). The film received generally positive reviews, and Stewart garnered positive notices for her performance.

After Panic Room's success, Stewart was cast in another thriller, Cold Creek Manor, playing the daughter of Dennis Quaid and Sharon Stone's characters; the film generally failed at the box office. Her first starring role followed, in the children's action-comedy Catch That Kid, opposite Max Thieriot and Corbin Bleu. Stewart also played the role of Lila in the thriller Undertow. To date, Stewart's most critically acclaimed role may be in the television film Speak (2004), based on the novel by Laurie Halse Anderson. Stewart, thirteen at the time of filming, played high school freshman Melinda Sordino, who stops almost all verbal contact after being raped and who deals with enormous amounts of emotional turmoil. Stewart received great praise for playing the character, who had only a few speaking lines, but kept up a dark-witted commentary inside her head throughout the film.

In 2005, Stewart appeared in the fantasy-adventure film Zathura, playing the role of Lisa – an irresponsible older sister of two little boys, who turn their house into a spacecraft hurtling uncontrollably in outer space by playing a board game. The movie received praise by critics, but Stewart's performance didn't garner much media attention as it was noted that her character is immobilized during most of the movie. The following year, she played the character Maya in Fierce People, directed by Griffin Dunne. After that film, she received the lead role of Jess Solomon in the supernatural thriller movie The Messengers.

In 2007, Stewart appeared as teenager Lucy Hardwicke in In the Land of Women, a romantic drama starring Meg Ryan and The O.C. star Adam Brody. The movie, as well as Stewart's performance, received mixed reviews. That same year, Stewart starred in Sean Penn's critically acclaimed adaptation film Into the Wild. For her portrayal of Tracy – a teenage singer who has a crush on young adventurer Christopher McCandless – Stewart received generally positive reviews. Salon.com considered her work a "sturdy, sensitive performance", and the Chicago Tribune noted that she did "vividly well with a sketch of a role." Meanwhile, Variety magazine's critic Dennis Harvey commented skeptically, "It's unclear whether Stewart means to be playing hippie-chick Tracy as vapid, or whether it just comes off that way." After Into the Wild, Stewart had a cameo appearance in Jumper and also appeared in What Just Happened, which was released in October 2008. She also co-stars in The Cake Eaters and The Yellow Handkerchief, both independent films that have only been screened at film festivals.

On November 16, 2007, Summit Entertainment announced that Stewart would play Isabella "Bella" Swan in the movie Twilight, based on Stephenie Meyer's bestselling vampire/human romance novel of the same name. Stewart was on the set of Adventureland when director Catherine Hardwicke visited her for an informal screen test which "captivated" the director. She stars alongside Robert Pattinson, who plays Edward Cullen, her character's vampire boyfriend. The film began production in February 2008 and finished filming in May 2008. Twilight was released domestically on November 21, 2008. Stewart will be reprising her role as Bella in the sequel, New Moon, in 2009.

During a radio interview with Big O and Dukes of WJFK 1067, Jason Mewes stated that he is doing a movie called K-11 with Stewart and Nikki Reed, also of Twilight. The film, which is being directed by Stewart's mother, takes place in a dorm of the Los Angeles County Jail, and will feature both Stewart and Reed as male characters. Stewart was also cast to portray Joan Jett in The Runaways, a rock 'n' roll biopic of the titular band from writer-director Floria Sigismondi. Stewart met with Jett over the 2008-2009 New Year to prepare for the role, and hopes to be able to sing in the film.
