Newlywed William, Kate put off honeymoon

After a royal wedding that captured the attention the world over and broke internet viewing records, a honeymoon is next for Prince William and his new wife, Catherine Middleton, right?
Well, eventually. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have opted to hold off on a honeymoon, instead choosing to have a private weekend to themselves in the United Kingdom in an unknown location - because Prince William has to return to work as a search and rescue pilot next week.

"The Duke returns to work and their future honeymoon, which will be overseas, will not be disclosed in advance," a statement from Clarence House said.
So we'll just have to wait and see where the couple will spend their private getaway, another secret likely to be kept just as well as who was going to be designing Middleton's wedding dress.
Speaking of Middleton's fashion - the world got another glimpse of the new bride when photographers snapped photos of her and the Duke of Cambridge leaving on Saturday by helicopter for their weekend alone.

The dress, the hair, that bouquet: Royal Wedding trends

It was a picture perfect wedding. Tall trees lining the thousands-year-old Abbey. Classic, simple swept back hair. And of course, that dress.

Now that Kate has wed her prince, local experts weigh in on what royal trends we’ll all be racing to replicate.

The Dress: A nod to Grace Kelly

The rumours proved to be true. Kate stunned in a lacy Sarah Burton dress for Alexander McQueen with a 3-metre train. It was the perfect mix of the traditional and modern.

“I think it was the iconic royal wedding gown for today’s event,” said Andrea Anastasiou, fashion stylist and owner of White Toronto.

The dress was hand-stitched, using a 200-year-old carrickmacross lacemaking technique. The tiny narrow bodice gave Kate a beautiful modern silhouette, said Anastasiou, adding she thought the whole look was a nod to the dress Grace Kelly wore for her 1956 marriage to Prince Rainier of Monaco.

Its base is ivory satin gazer which “Gives you a beautiful shape but it’s a very light fabric,” said Anastasiou. The stylist thinks we’ll be seeing a return to such beautiful full skirts.

The star of the regal affair, was, without question, the lace: On the collar and bodice treatment, as well as the sleeves itself.

As expected, for such a conservative setting, Kate was well covered. Anastasiou predicts sleeves will be making a comeback for brides as well.

“I think people want to have their modern princess moment and she really embodied that,” she said.

Within hours of the wedding, designers began showcasing similar designs. New-York based designer Romona Keveza has a strikingly similar gown in her Spring 2012 collection. It sells for $5,000.

Notable style mentions go to Kate’s younger sister, Pippa Middleton, who cut an enviable figure in a simple, sleek white cowl-necked silk dress, showing off her slender figure. Also designed by Burton, capped sleeves gave it a youthful look. Small, silk-covered buttons lined the back.

“Her bodice dress fit her like a glove,” said Anastasiou, adding she loved its 1940s inspiration.

In order to get that flawless, toned, tight figure the stylists thinks Pippa must have worn a shaping undergarment (much talk has already gone on about whether the pretty maid-of-honour wore underwear.) At White they recommend the slim cognito body shaper from Spanx.

Another nod goes to David and Victoria Beckham. The footballer arrived at Westminster Abbey in a Ralph Lauren grey suit and the pregnant fashionista in a midnight blue tunic of her own design and fascinator by Philip Treacy. Anastasiou loved his top hat. “I think that’s really going to inspire guys all over the world,” she said.

The Hair: Easy, elegant and “Very very princess”

Robert Gage of Robert Gage Salon in Toronto said Kate’s simple classic locks are easy for anyone to pull off.

Even if you don’t have the length, “Nowadays with so many extensions and little additions anyone could have hair like that.”

“This was very very princess,” he added.

The key to the look is structure. With both a veil and tiara: “You have to have something to hold it all together,” said Gage.

To get the look, Gage said Kate’s hairdresser, Richard Ward, would have first curled her hair, likely by setting it with large rollers. Then, he would have brushed the whole thing out and sectioned it into four sections. The two sides would then be pulled into a little ponytail, sitting on the hair going down the back. After, you would take the crown of hair, tease it, comb it and smooth it out. Next comes the veil and delicate Cartier “halo” tiara (lent to Kate by the Queen). And, lastly, the front would be set to one side.

One great thing about this simple “Very classic ... Basic English hairdressing” is that, for tonight’s reception, Kate can easily take her hair down — something Gage thinks she’ll likely do. The do was the perfect accoutrement to the diamond oak-leaf and acorn earrings, a play off her family’s coat of arms, that were given Kate by her parents Carole and Michael Middleton.

A tap goes to British socialite Tara Palmer-Tomkinson who wore “Sort of a very beautiful French roll without any height whatsoever and it came right out at the back,” said Gage, adding it’s a style he imagines women will want to replicate.

The Make Up: Do It Yourself

Often complimented on her glowing skin, Kate continued that natural look on her wedding day. Now the Duchess of Cambridge, she told aides that she “knows her own face” and had decided to do her own makeup, London’s Daily Mail reported.

Toronto-based makeup artist Jackie Gideon, said Kate’s look was classic, not trendy. “She stayed true to her classic style ... but slightly heightened and intensified for her wedding day.

To get the look, Gideon would start with black eyeliner close to the lash line. Kate likes to line her lids both top and bottom. Then, a soft pewter shadow on the top lid and a soft taupe in the crease. After, little bit of pearlescent oyster on the brow bone. And of course, waterproof black mascara.

On the apples of her cheeks, Kate applied a midtone rosy blush, giving “A healthy, rosy, radiant, romantic affect,” added Gideon. And on her lips, a soft rose shimmering gloss.

It’s not a difficult look to copy. The only tricky part is the precision needed for the liner under the eye.

The Headpieces: Fascinating fascinators and a sparkling tiara

A love for fascinators — those delicate, frivolous, headpieces — were popular, thanks to Kate Middleton, long before the royal wedding.

“Since we first got a glimpse of Kate and her love of the fascinator it’s just been on everybody’s mind,” said Barbara Atkin, vice-president fashion direction for Holt Renfrew. Before the wedding the retailer sold out of all their fascinators.

Atkins predicts hair ornamentation will be a big trend coming out of the royal wedding. “We saw so many beautiful ones,” she said, adding.

“I think we’re in a time where people want to be individuals. And there’s nothing more individual than having a fantastical fascinator create something visual for your personality.”

With prom season fast approaching, Atkin also predicts a rush of teenage girls looking for that perfect tiara, just like the Cartier “halo” tiara loaned to Kate by the Queen. The stunning piece of headgear was commissioned in 1936 by the Duke of York, who would become King George VI.

And for those less adventurous, ornamental headbands with bows or feathers.

“I think this whole idea of hair ornamentation is becoming so special and so much fun,” she said.

The Flowers: Lush and Organic

Phyllis Lill, owner of Yorkville’s Lilium watched the royal wedding with her daughter and partner Marilyn. Both are British-trained florists.

“What I loved was the use of foliages,” she said, pointing out the English field maple trees lining Westminster Abbey and adding it’s a great way to make a large space feel inviting. “It brought the country into the Abbey.”

Around the alter Lill noticed Solomon’s Seal, a green foliage with a little white bell shaped flower, and behind that very lush but loose looking white flowers.

“This is a trend we’ve seen happening in Europe and England. It shows a lot of respect for nature. A lot of younger couples getting married today really like that look. I think this is going to set more of trend,” she added.

As for Kate’s bouquet, it was made fittingly of sweet williams, in tribute to her prince, lily of the valley and myrtle (the bouquet contained a sprig of the herb used in the Queen’s 1947 wedding bouquet). Lill classifies it as a small cascade, saying it was a perfect fit.

“She’s quite petite and I think the bouquet was in proportion to her. It didn’t take away from the wonderful lace in the dress,” she said.

Lill also pointed out that the flowers, like the ones adorning the back of Pippa Middleton’s hair, will likely be in high demand following the royal wedding.

'Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows, Part 2' Trailer Debuts

Harry Potter
Prepare to get goosebumps – Warner Bros. has just unveiled the first trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. After being teased with snippets of footage and a dramatic teaser poster, fans can now get their first good look at the action-packed conclusion to the Harry Potter saga.
Producers David Barron and David Heyman spoke earlier this month about their decision to split the seventh and final Harry Potter novel into two films. They revealed that there were several plot threads and tangents that they may have been forced to gloss over had they attempted to cram everything into one movie. As a result, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 was a more introspective and somber chapter that laid the groundwork for the explosive finale.

And explosive is certainly the right word for this trailer. There are moments from the book I couldn’t wait to see realized on screen and there is quite a bit of jaw-dropping imagery on display here. There’s also a weight and a gravity to these proceedings that wouldn’t exist without the momentum of the previous films. Audiences have been following these characters on film for the better part of a decade and there’s something satisfying and bittersweet about watching them reach the end of their journey.

There's been a lot of build up to the first trailer for "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2," from the sneak peeks at new footage to a whole slew of new photos to the opening scene being posted online. Fortunately, the trailer that premiered Wednesday (April 27) on ABC Family made good on all of the hype and surpassed our expectations.

The most exciting and perhaps most surprising thing about the scenes featured in the new trailer is the focus on Snape and his significant flashback sequence. In the opening moments, not only is Snape shown in the now-recognizable scene outside of the Potters' home in Godric's Hollow. But there are also several other key moments included here, including one of Harry's mother, Lily, growing a lily in her palm (a reference to a story Horace Slughorn told in "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince").

With the majority of "Deathly Hallows, Part 2" set to focus on the final showdown between Harry and his nemesis, Voldemort, it comes as no shock that most of the trailer showcases plenty of new sequences from the epic last battle. It definitely looks like "Part 2" will have the best fight scenes to date from the series, be it when hundreds of wizards hurtle spells at Hogwarts' defenses, when the statues in Hogwarts come to life to defend the castle, or when Voldemort walks through a room of dead wizards.

But some of the scenes are more poignant than others. Ron weeping over his brother's dead body, Narcissa Malfoy looking troubled (maybe because of a decision she makes in regard to Harry?), Tonks in the midst of fighting and Molly Weasley throwing an attack spell are moments that should resonate with fans of the series or just heighten the excitement for those who've only seen the movies and don't know what's coming next. Harry's line, "I never wanted any of you to die for me," should tug at plenty of heart strings.

There are other extended sequences of previously seen scenes too. Several sequences showing the dragon at the Gringott's breakout have been added into the mix and a longer look at the destruction of the Room of Requirements blends in nicely with the action from the final battle.

But the shots of Snape will likely be considered to be some of the most thrilling in the trailer. It's nice that Warner Bros. is recognizing just how significant a character he is in "Deathly Hallows, Part 2," and using the mystery surrounding him — Is Snape good or is Snape evil? — as the primary vehicle for heightening anticipation for the film.

‘American Idol’ finalists croon Carole King tunes

American Tv Show
Scotty McCreery won back some friends on “American Idol.”

After receiving criticism from the show’s judges for playing it too safe last week, the deep-voiced 17-year-old country crooner of Garner, N.C., enticed the panel with his buttery rendition of “You’ve Got a Friend” on the Fox talent competition’s evening of Carole King tunes Wednesday. It was 22-year-old rocker James Durbin of Santa Cruz., Calif., who was dubbed a front-runner though.
Randy Jackson proclaimed that Durbin “just might win the whole thing” after his electric reworking of “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow.” Steven Tyler didn’t say he saw Haley Reinhart, the bluesy 20-year-old college student of Wheeling, Ill., winning the contest, but he did claim that he “just saw God” after Reinhart’s upbeat rendition of “Beautiful.”

“You have one of the best voices in the competition,” Jennifer Lopez told Reinhart.

James and Jacob want to take it to church with "Something Tells Me I'm Into Something Good."

They appear to be trying to outscreech each other. They serenade Jennifer a bit, but it wasn't great.

Sorry J & J, but I didn't dig it.9:20 p.m. - Haley, what is up with that headband in rehearsal?

She has a bit of a technical issue with her earpiece, but they work it out in time for her to sing "Beautiful."

I do believe she is growing on me for some reason. Her voice sounds stronger to me, and she is not at all overpowered by the back-up singers. Steven Tyler says he "heard God in her voice," but Randy didn't love the beginning.

It's what the voters think that matters, Dawg.

9:10 p.m. -"Hi-De-Ho" is the perfect some for Casey, and he looks snazzy in his suit and hat.

He's such a throwback to a different era, and I worry that the viewers cannot fully appreciate his artistry. He's definitely not like what they are used to.

Randy loves it for much the same reason I did - it made me feel like I was in a great jazz joint. Casey played the piano and jammed with the band. Steven Tyler said it made his scalp itch it was so good.

What?

9:01 p.m. – Lauren and Scotty sing "Up on the Roof," and they are so adorable.

He tries to get her to hold her microphone like a flute. Just precious.

8:57 p.m. – OK, a friend just told me James sang "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow," and it was amazing. This makes me happy for James, but sad for me.

Tornado warnings are important though, so I shouldn't complain too much.

8:49 p.m. – This stinks, but I totally missed everything about James' performance except the last note. Seriously, my local weather dude talked through the entire thing from the mentoring session all the way to the very last note.

Now I'm mad because Jennifer says he was the star of the night. And Randy says it was one of the best performances in the past few months and that James could win the whole thing. Randy even hugs him.

I cannot believe the timing and that I missed the entire thing. Grrrrrrrr!

8:37 p.m. – Scotty has to leave his comfort zone.

At least that's what they tell him. He's got to shake the perception that he can only do country. I can't comment on what Jimmy and Babyface tell him because we've got some nasty weather about to come through where I am and the local weatherman breaks in with an advisory.

I can tell you that Scott's version of "You've Got A Friend" sounds very country to me. The kid can't help it. I swear that a hip-hop song by him would sound country. Scotty is who he is, and his fans love him for it.

Randy loved it, but says he's got to stop falling off on the high notes. It was a good performance.

8:28 p.m. - Tomorrow night, Bruno Mars and Crystal Bowersox are performing. That should be hot.

We have some duets this evening, and the first one is Casey and Haley singing "I Feel the Earth Move." Their little interview before the song will do nothing to quell rumors that they are dating as they are all giggly and have a bit of a lovefest. Casey says he likes to growl with her.

Well alrighty then!

I like these two together. Very bluesy and soulful. Steven Tyler seems to confirm that they've got something going as you hear him say to the other two judges "Oh really" before he asks Casey "So how much in love with Haley are you ... cause it shows."

Cover. Blown.

8:16 p.m. – Lauren is singing "Where You Lead," and I can't even focus on that because here is Miley Cyrus offering up some advice.

She tells Lauren that people are always going to criticize her and talk about her. She should know as Jimmy slammed Miley a few weeks ago when he said Lauren was a stronger singer than her. He mentions that her fans have said some nasty things online about him, and she tells him he deserved it.

But back to Lauren. She pulls a kid out of the audience to sing to him, and this is the most relaxed I have ever seen her on the stage. She goes for the high notes, works the stage and J-Lo says it brought tears to her eyes.

Randy says she had some "extra swagger," and I agree. I hope she keeps building her confidence because I think she's already a star. She's in tears with all of the praise.

Ryan grills the kid to whom she sang. He's a 19-year-old named Brett. Lauren needs to get that number cause he's a cutie!

8:07 p.m. – Jacob selects "Oh No, Not My Baby" and Jimmy wants him to riff.

Wait, I thought Jimmy said before that he riffs too much. I'm as confused by this advice as I am Jacob's outfit of a blue gingham jacket with a brighter blue vest, yellow shirt and multicolored bow tie.

But Mantasia takes it to church! He's riffing, running, dancing, jumping. Now that's how you start a show!

8:05 p.m. – Hey Constantine Maroulis! You just can't stay away, can ya.

Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds is going to mentor tonight also. YAY!

I had no idea he had worked with Carole King. This should be good!

8:03 p.m. – Carole King is the business. Love her!

She has written so many amazing hits, recorded by more than 1,000 well-known artists. That's a great career.

I hope the contestants can do her music justice.

8 p.m. - Hello Wednesday evening.

Our Top 6 have made it where 124,000 have not, Ryan reminds us. Let's go!

BRUINS AREN’T WORRIED ABOUT QUICK TURNAROUND

A lot has been made of the fact that the Bruins and Canadiens will be playing Game 7 less than 22 hours after the conclusion of Game 6, raising questions about whether fatigue could be a factor Wednesday night. But the Bruins themselves aren’t too concerned about the turnaround.

“We’re at the stage here that we got trainers, we got good people around,” Claude Julien said. “That’s all been taken care of, and I’m sure it’s the same for the other side. I don’t think there’s much that gets left behind nowadays. Everybody has a job to do and everybody knows how to do it. You rely on your people around you. And our players are pretty well trained athletes as well that know how to hydrate themselves. Certainly we don’t plan on having that as an obstacle tonight.”

Shawn Thornton said Wednesday hasn’t been any different than any other game day.

“I can’t speak for everybody in the dressing room, but nothing,” Thornton said when asked what, if anything, changed in his game-day routine. “We got in early enough last night that I got the same amount of sleep as I normally would. I drank the same amount of coffee. … Back-to-backs aren’t a big deal. We do them all the time.”

The Passing of David Wilkerson

David Wilkerson, author of The Cross and the Switchblade and founder of World Challenge Ministries, died in a car crash today, Charisma and CBN are reporting.

CBN reports that Wilkerson was 79. The church that he founded, Times Square Church in New York City, has more than 8,000 members. His wife Gwen, was also involved in the crash and was rushed to the hospital where she is said to be in critical condition.

David Wilkerson
In 2009, Wilkerson posted a message warning of riots, fires, and economic collapse in New York City. CT wrote at the time about why Wilkerson's message received so much attention.

David Wilkerson, founder of World Challenge Ministries, has been killed in a car accident in Texas.

Charisma News spoke with Dr. Wayde Goodall, founder of WorldWide Family, who verified the news. Goodall was with Wilkerson’s son, Gary, when he was informed of the fatal accident.

“Today, the Kingdom of God has lost a giant of the faith. His life touched millions,” says George O. Wood, general superintendant of the Assemblies of God. “The Assemblies of God enjoyed a life-long relationship with David Wilkerson. He was godly, humble and represented everything that is best in a spiritual leader. Our heartfelt sympathy and prayer is extended to his wife, Gwen, and family.”
