Well, due to my disappointment that they didn't release it at WWDC, I can't stand the waiting anymore so I've decided to go into suspended animation until they release the MBP in the next few weeks. Somebody make sure to wake me when its time to open up my wallet! :rolleyes:

Am I the only one who sees the threat of moving to Android as a petty attempt to get Steve to reply? The writer of this email obviously didn't do any research, and he obviously doesn't understand that Steve would see right through a threat like that...
That thinly-veiled threat was pathetic. If you're concerned about the lack of privacy on iOS then running off to Android really makes sense. Sigh.

I'll guess 12", 15" and 17". I read somewhere they're expecting a 12".
The 12" is a unverified rumor to be taken with a large grain of salt at this point. I would think they would just soup up a MB and sell it as a MBP before they made a 12" again. Of course, you never know with apple.

I'm excited but disappointed at the same time.
It's nice to see some of the things they're incorporating into Leopard, and it's great to finally see a physical MacPro and read a spec sheet. You get a lot of processing power for the money, no doubt.
On the flipside -
the base video card is pretty meh. Additional HD options are ridiculously limited; you can only add 500g ones (no 250) for 2nd/3rd/4th HD. Base price on the dual 2.6 is..ok I guess. I join many others when I say I was hoping for lower cost but we'll see if they deliver a high end iMac with a Core 2 in the next few months.
Congrats to all the early adopters; I'm envious. :)
But I think the waiting game is best, even though it sucks. Then again I don't have the necessary funds so it's excusable. I'll be waiting til next year around the time Leopard launches I think and then I'll buy...mmm something. :D (Depends on what these are going for and also if we see any Core 2 iMacs.)
All in all though, way to go Apple...you've got yourself another customer. I can't wait to be able to use some of the new features in Leopard.

Microsoft isnt switching over to just ARM. They're just making Windows compatible on ARM. For their Windows 8 Tablets most likely.
Bingo, surprising it took 10 pages for someone to point out the obvious. It was starting to get funny reading about "Windows 8 on ARM!" as if that points to anything as far as laptops/desktops go.
It's not like Windows running on something other than x86 or x86_64 is surprising anyhow. Windows NT had ports to PPC, MIPS, Alpha and more recently ia64 during it's long history (that dates back to 1993).

But I just got the email notice that mine/ours is just about to renew, too. To have it become free for new users in a week, or a month, even, would be somewhat of a bite . . .
I'm sure it won't be full MobileMe if its ever going to happen. I'm betting my money on Apple lowering the price but in that case the old subscribers get extra space.

Intel said they expect Merom-based machines to be available for purchase toward the end of August. What's this about Apple receiving a large shipment of CPUs in September? They'd be a month behind the rest of the market by the time they started delivering systems. Intel said they were shipping Merom when they announced their earnings for last quarter.

I for one am not really that bothered about Lion or any OS updates - I love to have the latest thing and all improvements are always good. However, in my opinion they need to fix the OS I have before they release another one! For example with the last "update" [10.6.7] my Open type fonts are now playing up and the wonderful new Mac App Store takes about a minute to launch!
I get very worried when I hear El-Jobso talking about post a PC world as if he has decided already that the PC is dead. I for one could not make a living using an iPad and an iPhone.
Macs have always historically been used by content creators and designers [like me]. If, sometime in the future, Apple plan to lock down the system like they do with the iOS then I will simply stop upgrading my system. I could carry on using the system I have now until I retire, so it makes no odds to me if they want to stop making "proper" macs. I would imagine the rest of the design community would feel the same.
Don't get me wrong, I have an iPad and an iPhone and I can see how for the vast majority of consumers these would fit the bill for all your computing needs. However, if these consumers are going to have something to look at or play with or listen to, then us designers need the tools to create stuff with and that means powerful PCs.

I am not sure about you, but on composite that HTC with a 4" screen is noticeably larger in every possible way over the iPhone 4.
Um, just because HTC came out with a device that has those dimensions doesn't mean that those are the smallest dimensions possible for that screen size. Apparently you wren't looking at macrumors a couple of months ago when the rumors were being posted about the next iphone having an edge-to edge screen.

It's funny to see that people have completely forgotten about the Apple Expo in Paris, also tomorrow :D.
To me it is kinda strange that the expo starts 7 hours prior to the media event. Are they going to keep those black curtains (assuming there are some) during the complete 1st day of the event?
Are there any guarded stands whatsoever in the expo? Is anyone going there tomorrow to report? :)

There is just so many things wrong with storing all your own music in 'the cloud' that it boggles me there's still fools who think it's a great idea.
Enjoy paying larger data fees to access your own damn music while drinking that Kool-aid. Everyone involved in this scam (but you) will be laughing all the way to the bank.

Who even knows what hardware changes the iPhone 5 is going to make?
iPhone 4 was a major, major, major upgrade. It is still an exceedingly modern iPhone, and it's hard to imagine what they can upgrade from this device. Sure, the new device will be "faster." Sure, it may have more RAM and sure it may have a better camera. It will probably have a larger flash drive inside to hold more music/movies/apps.
It might even have a slightly larger screen and/or be thinner. That said, the iPhone as it stands is a nearly perfect device. The only significant upgrade I can think of would be to have 4G radios included to increase data transmission rates.
The iPhone 4 screen is already about perfect. The build quality and construction is incredible.
When the first iPhone came out it was clearly lacking a decent camera and 3G. When the 3G came out the build quality was reduced and it was too slow with too little RAM. When the 3GS came out the construction was still poor and the screen was beginning to get long in the tooth.
The iPhone 4, on the other hand, has it all from a hardware perspective. For a phone it's speedy, the buttons feel good to press and it doesn't break easily. It's also totally and absolutely gorgeous and from a tactile standpoint, it is feels good and substantial in your hand.
Having to "wait" another few months for an iPhone 5 shouldn't be a problem, because getting an iPhone 4 is the equivalent to buying a truly amazing device without any significant flaws.

To date we have not seen Apple update any of their Intel products. So it may not be any different. The pressure will be on Apple with new processors coming out all of the time. Steve Jobs keps Apple from doing what you would exspect much of the time.

There is no way to win the rumor war. So, staying with the original statement that the entire product line would be completed in 2006 is exactly what Apple should do, and probably is. Beyond that, it is anyone's guess how often they will offer product upgrades, or even how diverse the final product line will be. I also think Apple is excited about new opportunities, not feeling 'pressure'.

Sounds like a virus in itself. A pointless piece of software which just hogs your RAM. Totally useless for Mac OS X.
Gee, there is nothing like sending files with virus to your PC using friends or clients. Hey, there is our awesome showreel, presentation and virus to boot. That should leave lasting impression. When the Mac OS X is hit with first major virus infection I rather be safe then sorry. Regarding use of RAM, what are you talking about? This software has extremely small footprint and only time you see it using cycles is when you start manual scan.
