John Travolta tells court about threat

Hollywood actor John Travolta has taken the stand again during a court case in the Bahamas claiming a paramedic attempted to blackmail him.

The Grease star said paramedic Tarino Lightbourne threatened to sell stories about the death of his 16-year-old son, Jett, in exchange for $25m (£15m).

The 55-year-old actor said: "They were stories that would imply that the death of my son was intentional."

Mr Lightbourne and fellow defendant Pleasant Bridgewater deny the charges.

Seizures

Former senator Ms Bridgewater, who has also been accused of being involved, resigned her seat on the Bahamas senate after she was arrested in January.

Mr Lightbourne was one of the paramedics who responded when Mr Travolta's son was taken ill in January.

Jett died at the family's holiday home following a seizure.

Last week the Pulp Fiction actor began his testimony at the Nassau Supreme Court Earlier by recalling the moments before his son's death.

He revealed how he had tried to revive his son, who was autistic and suffered from seizures.

Mr Travolta said the suspected threat related to a liability release form, freeing medical personnel of any responsibility for his son's death.

Mr Travolta testified previously that he had signed the form because he wanted to take his son to Florida for treatment rather than send him to a Bahamian hospital.

It is alleged that Mr Lightbourne intended to use the form clearing him of any liability to suggest that Mr Travolta was at fault.

Mr Travolta's Bahamian lawyer Allyson Maynard-Gibson has testified that Mr Lightbourne had been in talks with several other media companies to sell the story.
