The BCCI may press criminal charges against suspended IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi in several cases of financial irregularity in connection with the Indian Premier League (IPL), according to media reports. Jyotiraditya Scindia has replaced BCCI President Shashank Manohar in the disciplinary committee against Lalit Modi.
The reports said that all the BCCI members ratified initiating criminal charges against Modi.
The BCCI is holding a Special General Meeting in Mumbai to discuss the replies of the showcause notices that were sent to Lalit Modi.
However, Modi's ouster is not on the agenda of the BCCI today. The SGM is only taking the ongoing enquiry into the suspended IPL chairman's alleged financial impropriety a step further.
The three-point agenda circulated by BCCI secretary N Srinivasan on June 19, a copy of which is in possession of HT, does not mention moving a motion to oust Modi. And since an SGM cannot discuss any issue not listed in the agenda, the chances of moving a motion against Modi with a 3/4th majority on Saturday are nil.
